The fix is gentler than people expect. You don't need more pigment or a bolder lip — you need the temperature dialled cool and the intensity kept soft. Keep the intensity soft: sheer and satin finishes flatter more than dense mattes, and a flush beats a slab of colour. And keep the contrast low: a soft grey-brown liner and a soft brow suit you far better than hard black, because Light Summer's own contrast between hair, skin and features is gentle. Lips, cheeks & eyes

Lips. Live in soft rose and cool pink for everyday, reach for rose-mauve when you want polish, and keep soft berry for the days you want a proper lip. Finish matters as much as colour here — a sheer wash, a tinted balm or a soft satin flatters Light Summer far more than a flat, dense matte, which can look harsh and ageing against soft colouring. If a shade pulls orange or brown on you, it's warm; put it down.

Blush. Think flush, not stripe. A cool soft-rose or soft cool pink, blended high on the cheek and kept light, gives that lit-from-within look this season wears so well. For definition, a soft grey-brown or a soft plum liner is gentler and more flattering than jet black, and a smudged grey-blue along the lash line looks beautifully cool and a little unexpected. Brown-black or soft grey-brown mascara suits the season's low contrast better than blackest-black; if you love a darker lash, keep the rest of the eye soft so nothing tips heavy.

What to avoid

• Warm everything — orange-corals, brick and tomato reds, brown "nude" lips, peach and terracotta blush, golden and bronze eyeshadow. Warmth is the single biggest mismatch for Light Summer and reads sallow against cool skin.
• Heavy darkness & high contrast — a dense black smoky eye, a hard black liner, a deep matte brow. Light Summer's own contrast is gentle, so heavy darks overpower the face rather than define it.
• Too-warm or too-bright base — a golden or olive foundation, a heavy full-coverage matte, an obvious bronzer contour. They turn muddy on cool skin; go cooler, lighter and more luminous instead.

Confirm your season first

Makeup only works once you actually know your season — the shades above flatter a Light Summer precisely because they match a cool undertone, a light value and a soft chroma.
